Spearfishing Charters

About our spearfishing charters

Our spearfishing charters are designed for competent, responsible spearfishers who want focused time in the water without crowds or rushed schedules. Trips are run in small groups and planned around conditions on the day, with an emphasis on good decision-making, selectivity, and respect for the marine environment.

These charters suit spearfishers who are comfortable managing their own dives, equipment, and catch, and who value a considered, safety-first approach over chasing numbers or pushing limits.

They can also be a good fit for experienced spearfishers who are new to the area or looking for local knowledge and guidance on the day. An experienced guide can provide advice on site selection, reading conditions, fish species and behaviour, and help refine approach and technique appropriate to specific sites.

What to expect on the day

Each trip is planned around your experience and goals, as well as conditions and visibility on the day. Before departure, we’ll talk through the plan with the group so expectations are clear and aligned with what the day is likely to deliver.

The day typically involves a transit to suitable sites, a clear safety and site brief, and multiple in-water sessions. While quality time in the water is always the priority, we may move between locations throughout the day depending on conditions and fish activity. This flexible approach allows for a safe, relaxed and focused style of spearfishing that adapts to the conditions and supports individual goals.

Beginners and training pathways

While these charters are primarily designed for experienced spearfishers, we also run trips for beginners when working alongside established training partners who provide instruction independently. This allows those new to spearfishing to be introduced to the sport in a structured, safe, and supportive way.

In these cases, the charter provides access, time on the water, and a well-managed platform, while all spearfishing instruction and supervision is delivered by the training provider. If you’re new to spearfishing and interested in an introduction or formal training, get in touch to discuss what options may be available.

Approach, ethics and expectations

These charters are built around the enjoyment of spearfishing done well — reading conditions, working a site, and making good decisions in the water. The focus is on relaxed, deliberate hunting rather than rushed dives or chasing numbers, with time to settle into the rhythm of the day and enjoy being on the water.

Responsible spearfishing is expected at all times, including adherence to current regulations, species identification, and safe handling of equipment. Within that framework, the aim is to enjoy the challenge and satisfaction that comes from good dives, good fish, and a well-run day shared with like-minded people.

Safety, sites and conditions

Sites are selected based on what best suits the group, the objectives for the day, and prevailing conditions. This may include offshore ground, local reefs, or areas known to be productive depending on visibility, current, and fish movement.

Conditions such as weather, swell, visibility, and current are considered as part of planning and on-water decision-making, with conservative calls made where required. Briefings are provided before each session so everyone is clear on the plan, and adjustments are made throughout the day to ensure a safe, controlled, and enjoyable experience in the water.

The aim is to run each trip in a way that makes sense on the day, provides an enjoyable experience, and supports safe and effective spearfishing.

Planning and bookings

Because spearfishing trips are planned around conditions, visibility, and group objectives, a brief conversation before booking is encouraged. This helps ensure the day is well matched to what you’re looking to achieve and avoids mismatched expectations on the water.

Trips are run in small groups, typically limited to four divers on offshore charters, to keep the day well managed and focused on quality time in the water. Not every day suits every goal, particularly when conditions or fish movement are variable, so flexibility is important.

If you’re unsure whether a spearfishing charter is the right fit, or would like to discuss experience levels, guiding options, or working alongside a training partner, get in touch and we can talk through available options.
